    Frequently asked questions

    FAQ Section
What is the difference between Simple Translation and Certified Translation?+
Certified Translations guarantee that the translation corresponds exactly to the source document, and include an Affidavit. Sworn Translations, in turn, have to be performed by government-certified translators. These types of translation can be used for legal purposes, such as immigration proceedings, study visas, registration of public documents, contracts, etc.

On the other hand, Simple Translations are unofficial translations, done by experienced translators. They are generally used for informational or highly technical documents.
What is an apostilled document translation, and what is it for?+
It is usually a Sworn or Certified Translation with a certificate of authenticity issued by countries that are signatories to the Hague Convention. The apostille is placed on a public document to attest to its origin (signature, level of a public official, etc.).
    What is digitally signed translation?+
The Digital Sworn Translation is the way to obtain a Sworn Translation online with the translator's digital signature, which guarantees greater security at every stage of the process by using encryption to transmit the information.
Is the Certified Translation more expensive in any way?+
No, the Certified Translation is not more expensive at all. However, the Sworn Translation service refers to a specific type of translation that needs to be carried out by a Public Translator (known as a "Sworn Translator") and follows the format, registration and prices stipulated by the Board of Trade; therefore, it could be more expensive than certified or regular, simple translation.
Brief Report Certificate and Full Content Certificate. What are the differences?+
The Full Content certificate is a Registrar-issued document that fully transcribes the content registered at the notary's office. The certificate in Brief Report format, on the other hand, provides a summarized version of the document with the most important information, such as full names, addresses, dates etc.
How to tell if a translator is a Sworn Translator?+
In order for the translation to be truly valid, it is very important to identify whether the Sworn Translator has the registration number with the Board of Trade informed on their letterhead.
Should I choose professional translation or machine translation?+
The so-called "machine translation" and "professional translation" have different purposes and, therefore, different users depending on context. For professional grade translations, you still need to have the translation reviewed by a professional translator to ensure quality.
What does "digitally signed" mean? How does it impact the delivery of Certified Translations?+
Digital signatures are made electronically by using a cryptographic system to guarantee the authenticity and the integrity of translated documents, and to prevent them from being falsified or tampered with.
    Do certified translations expire?+
The validity period of the certified or sworn translation is the same as that of the translated document. Once the original document has expired, the certified or sworn translation becomes useless and must be updated.
